Newsletter 2026
Dear colleagues and Members of ESEM
It is my pleasure to communicate with you through this 2026 President's Newsletter and to share some of the Society's latest activities and achievements.
Over the past months, a considerable amount of time has been devoted to several important administrative activities, including preparing and submitting the required documentation to the Al-Waraq Social Solidarity Administration concerning ESEM conference, following up the procedures for obtaining support from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, finalizing the financial accounts of our ESEM conference 2025, completing the legal procedures of the 2025 General Assembly, and successfully completed all required administrative procedures for registration with the Egyptian Tax Authority and obtained its official commercial registration. These essential tasks have required significant effort to ensure that our Society continues to operate in full compliance and remains well positioned for future growth.
The highlight of the past year was undoubtedly the ESEM Hybrid Conference 2025, held from 13- 15 October 2025 at the Institute of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute. I am delighted to say that the conference was a great success, as reflected by the very positive feedback we received from participants from Egypt and abroad. The scientific program, engaging discussions, and hybrid format created an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange and professional networking. While the full conference report, booklet, and program are available on the Society's website, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all the distinguished speakers and colleagues from Egyptian and international universities and research institutions who generously shared their expertise and contributed to the success of this event.
I would also like express our sincere appreciation to CIQTEK for participating as our industry partner and exhibiting its advanced electron microscopy technologies. Their contribution added significant value to the conference by exposing participants to latest technological developments in the field. Our Sincere thanks are also extended to the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) for its valuable support.
As we reflect on the success of our 2025 conference and look ahead to the Society's future activities, I would also like to inform our members of a change in the Society's leadership. Emeritus Prof. Ayman Ghalab has stepped down from his role as Vice President and concluded his association with the Society. We thank him for his contributions during his time with ESEM and appreciate his wishes for the Society's continued progress in fulfilling its scientific and professional objectives. Following his departure, The Emeritus Prof. Yasser Shabana has assumed the role of Vice President. We welcome Prof. Dr.Yasser Shabana to this position and look forward to further advance the Society's mission and activities.
Looking ahead, we are currently exploring the possibility of obtaining Continuing Professional Development (CPD) or accreditation hours for the establishment of the planned instructional scientific meetings to be a continuous platform for scientific updates, professional development, and knowledge exchange among our Society members
I would also like to remind all members that, by the end of this year, preparations will begin for the election of the new Board of Directors for the 2027-2030 term. I encourage all eligible members to actively participate in this important process.
Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to my colleagues on the Board of Directors for their dedication and commitment throughout the past year. My sincere thanks also go to all our members for your continued support, participation and confidence in the Society.
Thank you
Very best wishes to all,
ESEM President
